Lead Poisoning Prevention Advocates

Get the Lead Out is comprised of leaders in the lead poisoning prevention field.  The coalition includes public health nurses, environmental health professionals, education and outreach specialists, and social marketing experts.

Our members have developed and collected many useful tools to help providers in different areas to spot lead poisoning problems and to educate children, parents and others about how to prevent them.

  • WHAT YOU CAN DO

    Medical Providers:

    • Acknowledge the scientific consensus supporting the serious and lasting public health impact of blood levels below the CDC’s current “level of concern” (10mdg/dL)
    • Sign the Lower Lead Level Petition.
    • Conduct lead risk assessments on children and pregnant women to determine the need for blood lead testing.
    • Raise the issue of lead poisoning at professional conferences.
